Ripon Consolidated Fire Protection District

The original Ripon Fire District was created in 1921, before the City of Ripon incorporated, and consisted of one square mile.  The intersection of Main Street and Stockton Ave. was the center of the District.  A chemical tank mounted on wheels and hand-drawn to fires was donated to the new Fire District and became the District’s first piece of emergency fire apparatus.  This original equipment is still on display at Station One in Ripon.

Over the years the District grew both in population and area.  A Ripon Rural Fire Protection District was formed in1940 providing emergency services to the rural area.  The volunteer fire personnel built Ripon Fire Station Two in 1950 with donated material from Franzia Winery.  In 1963 the two separate Fire Districts, which had been sharing equipment and personnel, consolidated to form the Ripon Consolidated Fire Protection District.

The District added an emergency Ambulance Service in 1974 and became the first ambulance service or fire department in San Joaquin County to provide Advanced Life Support (paramedics) to our citizens.

Ripon Consolidated Fire Protection District continues to provide emergency fire response with well-trained personnel and state of the art apparatus and equipment.  We use Volunteers, Reserves, and Part Time and Full Time personnel to staff our apparatus.  Our personnel are trained to handle hazardous material spills and emergencies, water rescue and technical search and rescue as needed.  We continue to offer an Advanced Life Support Ambulance Service along with a very active Fire Prevention and Fire Inspection Program.  We believe it is our obligation to provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Training to our citizens so they can assist us by providing emergency care prior to our arrival.

The Ripon area is experiencing rapid growth which is challenging the District’s ability to maintain the current level of service.  We plan to meet this challenge using our resources as efficiently and effectively as possible to provide the services our citizens want and deserve.

Our Mission Statement “is to protect all the citizens within the Fire District from injury and loss due to natural and man-made disasters.  This will be accomplished by providing highly trained and equipped emergency personnel to respond to incidents of fire, medical and other emergencies”.

The District’s Motto is “PROTECTING WHAT'S IMPORTANT”.

Vial of Life Project

The vial of life project puts vital information in the hands of emergency workers when you are in need of assistance.  For more information see the Vial of Life website or contact Dan Estrada here at the fire station.  Email: destrada@riponfire.com

ICE Initiative

Cell phone users are being urged to put the acronym ICE -- "in case of emergency" -- before the names of the people they want to designate as next of kin in their cell phone address book, creating entries such as "ICE -- Dad" or "ICE -- Alison."

Paramedics, police and firefighters often waste valuable time trying to figure out which name in a cell phone to call when disaster strikes.
